Gloria Lucas, Body Positive Activist, Keynote on Eating Disorders and Body Love
Wednesday, Oct. 16 | 7-9 p.m. | CMU 105
Gloria Lucas, queer Xicana body positive activist, entrepreneur, and founder of LA-based Nalgona Positivity Pride, will visit MSUM’s campus on Wednesday, October 16 as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. Her keynote, “Eating Disorders and Body Love: The Things Mama Didn’t Tell You,” will take place from 7-9 p.m. in CMU 105. All are welcome.
Her talk will address the connection historical trauma has with eating disorders and the way colonialism has impacted the way people of color and indigenous people view their bodies. Furthermore, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the dominance of the white-thin-cis-hetero industrial complex and how it influences the way marginalized people get seen and treated in overall society. This talk comes from the perspective of a woman of color and welcomes people from all backgrounds to participate.
Free and open to the public.
