One Book One Community film screening: ‘Captain Marvel’
Tuesday, Sept. 10 | 6-8:30 p.m. | Fargo Public Library (102 3rd St N)
In conjunction with the One Book One Community project, “Captain Marvel” (PG-13, 2019) will be screened at the downtown Fargo Public Library (102 3rd St N, Fargo), on Tuesday, Sept. 10. The event will be hosted by Karen Joan Kohoutek, a staff member at the Livingston Lord Library, and a special guest. Starting at 6 p.m., they will hold a brief discussion on the “Captain Marvel” comics, and other women pilots in science fiction, followed by the film. Free popcorn will be served.
The MSUM Library is one of the community sponsors of One Book One Community, in which libraries across Moorhead, Fargo, and West Fargo join together to read a single book and create a shared conversation. This year’s selection, “Fly Girls: How Five Daring Women Defied All Odds and Made Aviation History,” by Keith O’Brien, focuses on the history of women in aviation in the 1920s and 1930s, including Fargo pilot Florence Klingensmith.
