Welcome to the #DragonFamily: Martina Haines
Meet MSUM’s Executive Director of Library Services, Martina Haines. With her amazing MSUM grit, she is happy to partner with departments around campus to better services and support for the students at MSUM!
Start date: January 21, 2019
Q: What drew you to MSUM?
A: When I read the job ad, it read “grit, humility and heart.” What really intrigued me was the grit part. I think that in the library world, it is OK to expand your horizons and really have grit. I toured the campus, I really liked it and I really liked the area as well. That’s what really drew me here.
Q: What unique experience or skills from your last job do you bring to MSUM?
A: I am a very energetic and goal-driven person. If I think something that is going to be good for the library, I am going to get it. I am a go-getter.
Q: What energizes you at work?
A: Seeing people accomplish their goals and seeing people say, “I have an idea,” or someone coming to me telling me that they are going to use my idea and have ways to add to it or make it better. We just feed off each other.
Q: What is your favorite place to eat in Fargo-Moorhead?
A: The India Palace. I am a vegetarian and they have a whole page dedicated to vegetarian options and that won my affection.
Q: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
A: I would go to Prague. I did my “23 and Me” and found some of my genetic roots there. It seems like a cool city to visit and hang out. It really intrigues me.
Welcome to the #DragonFamily, Martina. We are happy to have you here!
