MSUM Giving Day a huge success
For MSUM’s first 24-hour giving day on April 30, goals were greatly surpassed.
At the beginning of the event, MSUM was hoping to raise $100,000 and have 430 people give by midnight. Thanks to the generosity of Dragon supporters and their help in spreading the word, more than 614 donors saw #MSUMGivingDay messages and made gifts, raising $138,906 for MSUM student scholarships, programs and causes.
Alumni, community members, faculty, staff and students dropped by the CMU throughout the day to enjoy cookies and coffee, make donations, sport a T-shirt and write thank-you notes to donors. Scorch even made an appearance.
MSUM student co-host David Hoeschen (integrated advertising and public relations) said he was able to learn much more about the impact MSUM has on the community and beyond by participating in the day-long event. “To see what this campus means to so many people is incredible,” Hoeschen said. “The support and this unified effort is awesome. I loved seeing everyone get so excited.”
Dragon supporters from 32 U.S. states gave throughout the day, with Minnesota in first place, North Dakota in second, and California in third for greatest number of donations.
MSUM and the MSUM Foundation would like to give a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who participated or played a role in making MSUM Giving Day such a monumental success. A special thank-you goes to student co-hosts Lexie Kennedy and David Hoeschen, the MSUM Foundation, MSUM Marketing, Pres. Blackhurst, and all the individuals and departments that volunteered to help before and during the event.
