Boyd Bradbury (School of Teaching and Learning), Erin Gillett (STL), Marci Glessner (STL), Kathrina O’Connell (Educational Leadership doctoral student), and Ximena Suarez-Sousa (STL) provided professional development sessions to Peruvian elementary and secondary teachers on March 7 and 8, 2019. The sessions focused on 1) Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), 2) evidence-based instructional practices in literacy (Tier 1), 3) evidence-based instructional interventions in literacy (Tiers 2 and 3), and 4) implementation of the local academic norms for the Indicadores Dinámicos del Exito en la Lectura (IDEL) that were developed for Winnetka School. The school will pilot the implementation of the MTSS with a couple of grades (i.e., Kindergarten, 2nd grade) and ongoing consultation will be provided to the school during this piloting phase.
