Fast Enterprises is a software company that is dedicated to problem solving, creating solutions, and maintaining strong partnerships with government agencies. They help clients serve the needs of their communities to the best of their ability. By doing this, FAST helps positively affect the lives of millions of customers worldwide.

They are currently looking to hire and speak to students in the following areas: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics and related majors.

Fast Enterprises will specifically be looking for Implementation Interns and Implementation Consultants.  Here are the position descriptions:

Implementation Intern
Implementation Consultant

  • Implementation Consultant: As an Implementation Consultant on the Fast Enterprises team, you will be involved with all phases of the implementation of our software solution. You will become an expert within a subsystem of our software. You will be consulting with clients about that specific subsystem and then making changes to the system based on the requirements you gathered. We also work to make our clients business processes as efficient as possible. We have sites across North America and abroad and candidates should be flexible with respect to work locations.
    • “As Implementation Consultants, our job is to translate the client’s needs into technical solutions–which is a lot of fun for those up to the challenge! This means we work in two realms simultaneously. The first involves understanding the client’s overall goals, as well as their day-to-day business practices. We carefully gather this information through presentations, design sessions, and live demonstrations. Then we use all the business knowledge we gather about the client’s business practices and get down to the problem-solving. Integrity, flexibility, and good communication skills are key to becoming a well-rounded Implementation Consultant. Helping our clients transition from out-of-date and inflexible systems, to a robust, dynamic FAST system is an amazing experience. – Michael, FASTie since 2013”
  • Implementation Intern: As an Implementation Intern on the Fast Enterprises team, you will be involved with all phases of the implementation of our GenTax® software solution. Our interns get the full experience of what it would be like to work with us full time. They will be taking ownership of tasks and projects they are working on. We have sites across North America and abroad and interns should be flexible with respect to work locations.
    • “FAST Interns are a part of the FAST team from day one and share in the successes of their team. We get real-world experience and spend our time working on valuable and challenging projects. We work alongside other FASTies and government employees to determine the necessary functions of the software to implement changes and develop solutions to complex problems. This process includes meeting with government employees to determine needs, working as a part of a team to develop and execute a plan, and following through with testing of the solutions that the team has created. Every day includes new challenges and responsibilities which makes the job interesting and rewarding. – Nick, FASTie since 2013”
  • FAST Description: Fast Enterprises has been recognized as one of the Best Places to Work for the past five years in a row on Glassdoor!

FAST is an industry leader in the development and installation of software for government agencies. In 1998 we forever changed the way government revenue agencies support their business with the introduction of GenTax®. This commercial off the shelf (COTS) solution has enabled many agencies to take advantage of package implementations, providing more cost efficient and fully functional software systems to our clients.  We have expanded beyond tax and now do implementations for Motor Vehicle, Driver’s License, Unemployment Insurance and Unemployment Benefit agencies.

Much of the work at FAST happens on our client sites as part of the product implementation. Individuals who understand the technical aspects of systems implementation as well as the business needs of our clients fill these positions. Employees participate in the full project life cycle from requirements gathering through production support.

Our developers need to have strong technical and communication skills, enabling them to interact with client sites and detail system functionality. All candidates should be flexible with respect to work location.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students and faculty to network with an employer and discover what internship and career opportunities they have to offer.
