771 new students registered during SOAR — so far
Student Orientation Advising Registration (SOAR) is the program to welcome new students to the Dragon Family. During the most recent SOAR, which ran June 7, 8, 12, 13, 14 and 15, 771 students were registered, 673 of whom were new entering freshmen and 98 transfer students. This was 18 more students than served last year at this same time. In addition, these students were accompanied by 1,500 of their guests.
“I want to say thank you to all of the students, faculty and staff that helped with the recent June SOAR programs,” said Brenda Amenson-Hill, vice president for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs. “SOAR is one of our largest enrollment programs and your involvement is appreciated.”
Amenson-Hill says the success of the program is due in no small part to the role current students play as SOC (Student Orientation Counselor) mentors.
“It was also great to welcome back several alumni parents who are now visiting with their child,” she added.
The next SOAR dates are July 20 for transfer students and July 21 for new entering freshmen.
