How to complete your FAFSA
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is a simple online process to identify what federal and state grants, loans, and work study dollars you are eligible for.
At MSUM, 87% of degree-seeking students receive financial aid, which means your chances of receiving financial aid are great!
WHO: You and your parent/guardian
WHAT: the 2019-2020 FAFSA application
WHERE: any computer, tablet, or smart phone available to you
WHEN: ASAP! The FAFSA opened on Oct. 1, but there’s still plenty of time to get yours in to MSUM to see what aid you are eligible for
HOW: Set aside 25 minutes with your parent/guardian, have your tax information from 2017 available, and begin the application at fafsa.gov
Once you complete the application, you will be able to send your information to up to 10 schools. List MSUM as one of those schools using school code 002367 and then celebrate for finishing the task!
Already completed your FAFSA but haven’t received a preliminary award notice from MSUM yet?
-Log back in at fafsa.gov and make sure that you listed MSUM as one of your 10 schools. If you didn’t list us initially, go ahead and delete one of your first 10 schools to add us in.
-If you did list us and have questions on whether or not you are receiving aid, contact our financial aid office at finaid@mnstate.edu or 218.477.2251.
MSUM is dedicated to making college as affordable as possible for all students. If you have questions or concerns about college affordability, we want to help! Don’t hesitate to contact us at finaid@mnstate.edu or 218.477.2251.
