David Kupferman, School of Teaching and Learning, presented a paper at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) annual meeting in New York City in April. AERA is the largest and most prestigious education research conference in North America. His paper, titled “Michel Foucault and the Birth of Biopolitics, 1978-1979,” will be included in a forthcoming edited volume on Foucault’s lectures at the College de France. Kupferman is also the Chair of the Foucault and Contemporary Theory in Education Special Interest Group at AERA, and he oversaw the group’s annual business meeting while in New York.
