Free Baby sign language demonstration class offered
Thursday, Sept. 21 | 6-6:30 p.m. | NDSU Infant Cognitive Development Lab
Join us for a free informational presentation on baby sign language! The Infant Cognitive Development Lab is partnering with NDSU Extension Services. The demonstration will be held Sept. 21, 2017 in the Infant Cognitive Development Lab at NDSU from 6-6:30 p.m.
Research has shown that the sue of sign language with hearing children can:
- Help reduce tears and tantrums
- Boost self-esteem and self-confidence
- Strengthen the parent-child bond
- Making learning to talk easier
- Stimulate intellectual development
Additionally, we will be offering a later series to accommodate more families. It will be on Thursdays October 5 to November 9 from 6-6:45 p.m. at the Infant Cognitive Development Lab at NDSU. The cost is $15 per family unit and childcare is not provided.
Participants will be taught 40 useful signs adapted for children. The recommended age is 8 months to 18 months but as young as 6 months is OK.
To register, call Cass County Extension at (701)-241-5700.
