Death of MSUM student Fanuel Shewarega Asrat
We are saddened to report that the death of MSUM student Fanuel Shewarega Asrat was recently confirmed. Fanuel died Thursday, June 29 after swimming with friends in the Red River. Fanuel, a native of Ethiopia, was a senior majoring in Economics. He will be missed by many friends and family members.
MSUM is following established protocols for the death of a student that includes communications with family, coordination between campuses office, supporting our students, and informing faculty teaching the student’s classes. Faculty, staff and students with questions may direct them to the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, 218-477-2171.
