Provost Bessie announces Dean of Arts, Media and Communication
Provost Joseph Bessie is pleased to announce that Dr. Earnest Lamb has accepted an offer to become the new Dean of the College of Arts, Media, and Communication.
Dr. Lamb earned his Ph.D. in Musicology from the University of North Texas in 2005. A cellist by training, Dr. Lamb also holds Bachelors of Music and Masters of Music degrees from the University of Memphis and Indiana University, respectively. His professional work at the university level began in 1991 as a lecturer and orchestra conductor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. In 1992, he became an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where he rose through the ranks to become an Associate Professor and ultimately Department Chair. Dr. Lamb comes to us now from Fayetteville State University, where he serves as full professor and has for seven years been the Chair of the Department of Performing and Fine Arts.
Provost Bessie invites the thanks and congratulations of our community to the CAMC Dean Search Committee, including Chris Walla (School of Art), Don Clark (SoMAD), Dr. Theresa Hest (Communication and Journalism), and Dr. Craig Ellingson (School of Performing Arts), along with search chair Dean Cagle, for their hard work in identifying a strong and talented group of finalists to meet with us. During the search process, it became clear that Dr. Lamb proved to be the top candidate for the appointment. His significant relevant experience, his evident aspirations on behalf of MSUM and vision regarding future possibilities for the College, his diverse experience, and his clear recognition of the value CAMC provides to our community and to our region stood out among additional strengths that he brings to the position.
Dr. Lamb will begin his appointment July 1, 2017. Please join us in congratulating him and welcoming him to the Dragon Family and the Moorhead-Fargo community!
