University Writing Support Center Faculty Workshop
‘Addressing the Needs of Non-Native English Speakers in Classes that Require Writing’
Thursday, Feb. 9 | 3-3:50 p.m. | LI 124
The Writing Support Center will be offering several seminars for faculty this semester. These interactive seminars, led by Dr. Tim Decker, are designed to help participants teach writing effectively.
During this workshop, we will discuss strategies for effectively addressing the needs of International and ELL students in classes that require writing. We will identify different types of students in this cohort and the different challenges that each type presents. We will address both teaching and grading strategies while emphasizing the marked differences between how writing is taught in American schools versus other international systems.
