National Coming Out Week

Join us for National Coming Out Week events: 

20% Theatre The Naked I performance and writing workshop

Monday, Oct. 10: Join SPECTRUM, the Rainbow Dragon Center, and the Title IX Coordinator in welcoming the 20% Theatre Company to MSUM. From 3-5, they will be offering a workshop in Weld Auditorium for students interested in writing about and performing gender. From 5-7, SPECTRUM will be hosting a LGBT social in the Rainbow Dragon Center (BR 150) with food and community.

At 7 in the Weld Auditorium, the 20% Theatre Company will perform “The Naked Self I: Self Defined,” which is a play open to all that explores queer and trans* experiences through monologues, short scenes, and spoken word poems featuring fresh voices and unique perspectives on what it means to identify as queer and/or transgender/gender non-conforming.

Coming Out Stories (students only)

Tuesday, Oct. 11: MSUM students share their own coming out experiences with a talk back for questions in the Weld Auditorium from 6-9. If interested in sharing your own coming out story, contact Katie at weberkat@mnstate.edu.

Trans 101 with Faye Seidler

Wednesday, Oct. 12: Students, faculty, and staff are all highly encouraged to attend Faye Seidler’s presentation on gender and identity from 6-7 in CMU 205. Faye is a transgender activist from Fargo, N.D.

Tye Dye Party

Thursday, Oct. 13: SPECTRUM will be tye dyeing t-shirts in the campus mall starting at 4:30. Some t-shirts will be provided, but students are encouraged to bring their own.

Drag Show Bingo with Harmony Diamond

Friday, Oct. 14: Play Bingo with SPECTRUM from 6-7 in CMU 205. Harmony Diamond will be our host for the evening. Come in Drag or come as you are. Prizes will be given to winners!
