Become a Dragon Mentor for the 2016-2017 academic year
We are looking for upper-class students to who are interested in serving as a Dragon Mentor within a Learning Community for Fall 2016. Dragon Mentors will be assigned to a Learning Community and will share a floor with their residents.
Dragon Mentors serve as a guide, mentor, and friend to the students participating in the Learning Community. Mentors host academic and social events each month. Mentors are also available to offer advice and lend support to students when needed. Dragon Mentors also attend staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with their supervisor.
Qualifications:
-Dragon Mentors must have completed at least one year at MSUM.
-Must live on campus in the building where the Learning Community you are hired for is placed.
-Open to all majors, but hiring preference is given to students with the same majors as the major based Learning Communities. *Note we have several communities that are not major based.
-GPA of applicant taken into consideration because of the academic focus of this position.
-Must be available to begin position on 8/7/2016 and attend training prior to the start of classes.
Compensation:
-$1,250 stipend per semester
-Pay a double room rate, yet live in it as a single
-Attend numerous events and socials with mentees for free
-Opportunity to develop leadership skills
