Dragons app update for Elite 8

Everything you could ever need or want for MSUM’s trip to the NCAA Elite 8 in Evansville, Ind. has been added to the most recent update of the DRAGONS mobile application. The update features a quick link to the #DragonsMarchOn Central site that has everything you need to know all accumulated on one page, including buttons for audio and video coverage, send-off party, fan bus, tickets, Ford Center information, Evansville map, brackets and more.

“One of the most exciting items is the social media buttons,” said assistant athletics director and app creator Jon Wepking. “Those who don’t have social media accounts can now view pictures from the Regional Tournament, YouTube videos recapping every moment, and all the exclusive tweets from behind the scenes. The DRAGONS app has been totally customized with new graphics and #DragonsMarchOn and Elite 8 branding so everyone can get into the game no matter where they are.”The DRAGONS app also includes a soon to be announced button for the DragonsLIVE Coaches Show that will be broadcasted live from Evansville before the game and will air on WDAY’Z XTRA.

“I don’t know of anyone who is doing what we’re doing from a coverage standpoint,” said athletics director Doug Peters. “Not only do we have an app, but to customize it specifically for the Elite 8 and then do our own live pre-game broadcast shows how cutting edge we can be.”

The Dragon Sports Media office has some other graphics and social media campaigns planned as well that are directly integrated into the DRAGONS app.

“I really like the graphics we’re sending out on social media,” said media relations assistant Andrew Melroe. “It’s a neat way to continue interest between the Regional Tournament win all the way up to the Elite 8.”

Some of the graphics include a countdown using the numbers of each player to announce the hours until tipoff, digital trading cards, and commemorative collages of the net cutting and trophy presentation at the Regional Championship.
