Dr. Allan Chapman, Oxford lecturer for MSUM’s Eurospring program, chosen to receive medal

Dr. Allan Chapman, Oxford lecturer for MSUM’s Eurospring program, has been chosen by the Royal Astronomical Society to receive the 2015 Jackson-Gwilt Medal. This RAS medal goes back to 1897, and is awarded for excellence and discovery in astronomical research. In 1931, for instance, it went to Clyde Tombaugh, the Flagstaff (Arizona) Observatory astronomer who in 1930 discovered the planet Pluto. In Dr. Chapman’s case, this is the first time the J-G Medal has gone to someone for original contributions to the history of astronomy. Congratulations, Dr. Chapman!
