Sheila Marquardt gave two presentations at National Association of Multicultural Education conference

Sheila Marquardt, Assistant Professor of Educational Foundations, gave two presentations at the National Association of Multicultural Education conference in Tucson, AZ.  The first was a faculty-student research project, Beyond the Transmissive Mode: Educators’ Political Responsibility in Dismantling Borders, with Education majors Jennifer Kusler and Daniel Bihrle.  Sheila also facilitated an interactive workshop, from hate: finding beauty.  This workshop was the result of a collaboration among Education major Emily Czichotzki, two high school students from the Red River Area Learning Center, and a Moorhead Public School teacher, Kelsy Jenkins. The focus was “creating with” as a heuristic for breaking down relational borders.
