Media and video symposium coming to Moorhead Oct. 1

The Video and Media Symposium being held at Minnesota State University Moorhead on Wednesday, October 1st is a training and networking event designed to help those in nonprofit organizations and small to mid-size business tap into the power of video and work with all forms of media more effectively to become better communicators, educators and marketers. The area’s expert media and video professionals will be sharing insider tips, advice and resources from their industries.
‘How to Tap into the Power of Video’ is the first session starting at 8:15 a.m. and goes to 11:15 a.m. with a panel discussion and lunch immediately following from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This session will cover topics such as creating compelling stories, tips to save and find money for your video, technology, questions to ask your production company, rights, releases, and contracts, and getting people to watch your video.
The second session, ‘Working with Media’ starts at 1:15 p.m. and goes to 2:45 p.m. with a panel discussion and refreshments immediately following from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The topics covered in the Media session include what grabs media’s attention, interview pitfalls, building long-term media relations, maximizing digital exposure, and sponsored ads and public service announcements.
One session is $55 and the full day is $99. Registration includes an instructional booklet, resource manual, lunch for morning session and refreshments for afternoon session. Those registering before September 12th get a 10% discount. Each additional person registering from the same business or organization will receive a 15% discount. The early registration discount does not apply to additional registrants.
