Economics major presented paper at Eastern Economics Association research session in Boston

Jesse Leyk, economics major, presented a paper on the impact of NAFTA on imports of transportation equipment. Leyk’s presentation was part of the undergraduate research sessions (IPE sessions) of the Eastern Economics Association held in Boston. Over 40 students from all over the nation presented. Leyk’s main finding is that NAFTA appears to have caused increased imports from Canada at the expense of imports from Japan. Also, while imports from Mexico have also increased, NAFTA does not seem to be the main reason for this increase.
