Minnesota State University Moorhead men’s basketball coach Chad Walthall is going barefoot for an important cause on Feb. 21.
Walthall will go barefoot during the Dragons’ home game against Minot State on Friday, Feb. 21 as part of the Samaritan’s Feet project. The Dragon mentor is giving up his shoes that evening in support of local Minnesota children.
Samaritan’s Feet raises money to purchase shoes for local children in need. Their goal is to raise money to purchase 2,014 pairs of shoes and distribute them to those in need for the 2014-15 school year as part of the “2,014 Pairs of Shoes in 2014” campaign.
“Samaritan’s Feet is a wonderful cause that truly provides shoes for those in need,” Walthall said. “To be a part of raising awareness and helping with this effort is an honor.”
Fans can donate money towards the cause at Coach Walthall’s fundraising page, which is linked above, or at the game on Feb. 21. The proceeds of that fundraising will go towards a 500-child shoe distribution in the Moorhead area as part of the “2,014 Pairs of Shoes” campaign.
North Dakota State’s Saul Phillips, Concordia’s Rich Glas and North Dakota’s Brian Jones are other men’s basketball head coaches in the area participating.
