Deborah White invited to conference at the White House

Dr. Deborah White, Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice, has been invited to participate in a conference at the White House April 22 as part of a new White House initiative to promote leadership and civic engagement among girls. White is coordinator of the Tri-College NEW Leadership Development Institute, an annual program designed to advance women’s civic and political participation. The Tri-College Institute is a partner in the NEW Leadership Development Network, an initiative of the Center for American Women in Politics at Rutgers University in New Jersey. The Center for American Women and Politics is collaborating with the White House and Department of Education on this new initiative for girls. White and other NEW Leadership Development Network partner representatives will meet at the White House April 22 with other educators, leaders of youth serving groups, scholars, and elected officials.
