Piano recital features works for four hands
MSUM piano professor Terrie Manno performs with guest pianist and former MSUM music student Michael Dean in a recital of piano music for two pianos. The Manno-Dean Piano Duo performs Sat., Oct. 22, at 5 p.m. in Fox Recital Hall in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts on the MSUM campus. The performance is free and open to the public.
The recital includes works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, Johann Strauss, Witold Lutoslawski, John Corigliano and Aaron Copland. “Two-piano repertoire is very exciting to perform and thrilling to hear in concert,” says Manno. “Each pianist has the entire breadth and scope of the piano at his fingertips, marrying the best of musical collaboration with endless expressive and technical possibilities.”
Manno earned a doctorate in piano performance and pedagogy in 1989 and joined the MSUM music faculty the same year. Dean completed his undergraduate degree in piano performance at MSUM with Manno in the 1990s, and went on to complete a doctorate in piano performance and a Ph.D. in piano pedagogy at the University of Oklahoma. He is currently a piano professor at Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, Okla.
