Doctoral student explores intersectional identities in Feb. 10 talk
Pamela Roy, an advanced doctoral student/research assistant in Higher Adult & Lifelong Education at Michigan State University, will present the talk Rainbow Rice: Exploring the Intersectional Identities of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning Asian/Asian Diaspora Communities Thursday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. in CMU 101.
This presentation will examine the complex and intersecting nature of race, ethnicity, class, gender, sexual orientation, culture, and nation as it pertains to members of the Asian/Asian Diaspora communities. Roy will engage participants in dialogue around topics including, but not limited to, intersections of identity, racism, homophobia, heterosexism, and queer people of color politics.
Roy holds a national leadership position as the Gay Lesbian Bisexual Transgender Issues Knowledge Community Co-Chair for NASPA, Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education. Go to the Safe Zone website for more information.
