War stories and other fiction topic of Oct. 20 Dean’s Lecture

“War Stories and other Fiction: Crafting Literature from Personal Experience,” is the topic of a Dean’s Lecture by MFA candidate Dan Nygard at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20 in Comstock Memorial Union Room 101. He states: “American writers have been telling war stories since even before Francis Scott Key wrote The Star-Spangled Banner. This lecture will discuss how I turned my experiences in the Iraq War into a work of literary fiction.” The lecture is free and open to the public.
