African Drum & Dance Workshops Feb. 27-28
An African Drum and Dance Workshop, with guest artists Fode Bangoura, master Guinean drummer/dancer and Whitney McClusky, Duniya Drum and Dance Studio, and featuring the Minnesota State University Moorhead Percussion Studio, will be held Saturday, Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 28 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts.

Fode Bangoura has been recognized internationally for his work as the lead drummer with the acclaimed ensemble “Les Merveilles de Guinea.” Fode is now one of the most respected and sought after drummers of his generation. He has toured the world with the National Dance Company of Guinea, has dozens of recording credits, and has appeared on national television, including a featured spot on MTV.
Whitney McClusky is the founder and director of Duniya Drum & Dance, an organization that exists to build a diverse community in support of the arts of the African Diaspora in the Twin Cities region. She has been teaching African dance and movement for more than 10 years, leading to studies in Guinea and Senegal as well as performances with “Les Gitanes” and choreography for “Dance in the Dark” and “B-Girl Be.”
