MSUM String Teachers Clinic Oct. 10

MSU Moorhead offers a free clinic for area string teachers on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts, Room 148. 5th Annual MSUM Invitational Orchestra Festival Oct. 12-13

MSU Moorhead offers the fifth annual Invitational Orchestra Festival for Middle and High School Orchestras on Monday, October 12 and Tuesday, October 13. Performances and clinics will take place in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts Hansen Theatre. This year’s event features 13 school orchestras involving over 750 string students. In addition to seven Fargo-Moorhead area schools, groups from Crookston, New Brighton, Champlin, Woodbury, and Minneapolis will participate. Click the headline to read more.

Book features chapter by Bolduc

A recent book, “Institutional Analysis and Praxis: The Social Fabric Matrix Approach,” includes a chapter by Steven Bolduc, Economics. Bolduc’s contribution, “Ceremonial Dimensions of Market-based Pollution Control Instruments: The Clean Air Act and the Cap-and-Trade Model,” argues that inquiry guiding policy design and assessment should be guided by the recognition of social, ecological, and technological interdependence, and not only by narrowly conceived economic criteria. The volume was released in September 2009 by Springer Science+Business Media.

Homecoming 2009 Winners

Homecoming 2009 hosted a variety of competitions and is pleased to announce the winners. The Homecoming parade had three categories. Entries were judged based on crowd response, school spirit and enthusiasm. Moorhead High School category: Winner-MHS Football Senior Moms; Community category: Winner-Moorhead Youth Soccer; MSUM category: Winner-Instructional Resources. Professional Development Day is Oct. 13

The Office of Academic Affairs and the Faculty Development Committee are sponsoring a Professional Development Day on Tuesday, Oct. 13. The workshop is designed to provide opportunities to learn about campus initiatives, increase responsiveness to students, to continue the conversation on Dr. Maryellen Weimer’s August presentation, and network with peers on a variety of topics.
