Indigenous Peoples Education Conference at MSUM Nov. 20
MSUM will host the Indigenous Peoples Education Conference, Gidaginzomin: “We Are All in this Together”, on Friday, Nov. 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the university’s Comstock Memorial Union.
The conference explores best practices to provide support and educate American Indian students in higher education.
Speakers and their topics include: Karen Francis-Begay, University of Arizona, building relationships between tribal colleges and universities; Irvin Harrison, San Diego State University, providing support services to students at tribal colleges; Heather Shotton, University of Oklahoma, preparing Native American students for college; and Stephanie Waterman, University of Rochester, serving American Indian students in predominantly white institutions.
Conference cost is $100 and includes continental breakfast and lunch.
