MSUM Hosts Star Party on the Prairie
MSUM’s Regional Science Center is hosting a “Star Party on the Prairie” Friday, Aug. 21 from 9-11 p.m. at the Buffalo River site located 15 miles east of Moorhead, off Highway 10, adjacent to Buffalo River State Park.
Participants will learn how to find constellations, and view the Milky Way, nebulae and star clusters through our telescopes. Some August meteors may also be visible. Participants can bring their own binoculars or telescopes if they wish. If it’s cloudy, an indoor presentation will begin at 9 p.m.
It’s free and open to the public.
In addition, the Science Center hiking trails are open to the public from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily for birding and hiking. Science Center attractions include the nature trails, native plants garden, “Cluster of Prairie Grasses” sculpture, and the interpretive center’s bird observatory and special exhibits.
