MSUM Will Celebrate Red River’s Retreat with “Floodstock ’09”
Floodstock ’09, a community celebration produced by MSUM, will take the stage Tuesday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hansen Theatre in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts—and everyone’s invited!
“We are very proud of our students, faculty and staff, who showed remarkable determination and dedication during the flood fight,” says President Edna Mora Szymanski. “Our community showed the nation how to work together in an emergency. Now it’s time for a little fun. We want to celebrate success and say goodbye to the floodwaters.”
MSUM’s Theatre Department will put the event together. Highlights will include selections from The Producers (postponed from April to this summer’s Straw Hat season) and water-related songs like “Rolling on the River.” There will also be skits involving community leaders and others. Steve Poitras (MSUM Class of ’67), will serve as emcee. Poitras and his family lost their home to the flood.
The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited, so tickets are required for admittance. The free tickets will be available beginning April 28 from noon to 4 p.m. Call the MSUM Box Office at 218.477.2271.
