MSUM Percussion Ensemble Concert Friday Features Soloists, World Premier
The MSU Moorhead Percussion Ensemble will present “Percussion + 1: Works for Percussion and Soloist” at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 17 in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts Gaede Theatre.
This unique evening of works for percussion ensemble and instrumental soloist will combine the sounds MSUM faculty and student soloists.
Soloists include: clarinetist Catherine Tesch, cellist Elise Buffat Nelson, violinist Benjamin Sung and drumset performer Peter Johnson.
The evening will feature a world premier performance of a new composition commissioned by the MSUM Percussion Ensemble from Texas-based composer Gabe Musella for cello and percussion ensemble, plus one of the great early masterworks of percussion ensemble literature, Lou Harrison’s “Concerto for Violin and Percussion Orchestra (1940),” featuring FMSO principle violinist and MSUM string faculty member Benjamin Sung. Admission is free.
