SoMAD represents at Twin Cities Film Fest

The School of Media Arts & Design was well represented at this year’s Twin Cities Film Festival, with ten Film/Animation students in attendance (all members of the Film Loop Club) who spent a long weekend watching award-winning films and attending industry workshops and three films screened, showcasing ten MSUM Film alumni.

CADT students present at MPCA/ACA Conference

Two seniors, Conor Holt and Simone Leclaire, of Cinema Arts & Digital Technologies presented research papers at the Midwest Popular and American Culture Association Conference, Columbus, Ohio Oct 12-14. Professor, honors apprentice present at conference

Anthony Adah, Film Studies, and Film Studies Honors Apprentice, Simone LeClaire, co-presented a paper titled, “Love and Desire in Failed States: Melodrama and Nationhood in Nollywood Video Films” at the biennial Film & History Conference, Nov. 11-14 in Milwaukee. The paper analyzed the formal and stylistic suitability of this genre for addressing times of socio-political crises.
