A Health Care Directive is the document that directs your medical treatment when you can’t speak for yourself. The Elder Law class (Para 416) has, as part of an academic service-learning project, drafted health care directives for area residents for the last five years. Professor Jane Bergland and seven nursing students recently returned from the ninth annual Nicaragua trip where they provided health care in rural northern Nicaragua. The team included MSUM nursing students, four pediatric residents from Hennipen County Medical Center, four emergency room residents from the University of Chicago, a dentist, faculty, and other ancillary staff.
