Ragamala Dance Theatre, a Minneapolis-based dance company that tours every year around the world, appears on stage at Minnesota State University Moorhead Saturday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. Wadaiko Ensemble Tokara, a taiko drumming group from Japan, joins them. Click headline to read more.
The MSUM Percussion Ensemble presents “Out of Africa: Works from and Inspired by African Music and Dance” Friday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Hansen Theatre. The concert will feature guest artists Fode Bangoura and Whitney McClusky performing traditional music and dances from West Africa alongside MSUM students and Red River Valley members. The concert will also feature the World Premier of a work commissioned by the MSUM Percussion Ensemble from composer John Doing. Admission is $5 for over-21; $3 for under-21.
The MSUM Percussion Studio is proud to host guest Guinean Master Drummer Fode Bangoura and Minneapolis-based African dance instructor Whitney McClusky for a workshop series this coming week. Workshops are open to all ages and the general public, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays nights from 7-10 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Hansen Theatre.
