Seventy-five new citizens welcomed to U.S. during Sept. 14 Naturalization Ceremony

In honor of Constitution Day, MSUM will host a naturalization ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 14 at 11 a.m. in the Comstock Memorial Union Ballroom, located at 14th Street South and 6th Avenue South. September 17 is Constitution Day and Citizenship Day, commemorating the September 17, 1787 signing of the United States Constitution.

The United States District Court, District of Minnesota, will naturalize 75 new citizens from 28 countries during the ceremony. U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge William J. Fisher will preside.

University students and students from the surrounding K-12 school districts have been invited to attend. The notable event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in Lot G-1, on the corner of 14th Street and 9th Avenue South.

‘The Constitution and What it Means to You’

Join the lecture, ‘The Constitution and What it Means to You,’ Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. in Comstock Memorial Union, Room 205.

Celebrate Constitution Day at MSUM

Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine brave men on September 17, 1787, recognizing all who, are born in the U.S. or by naturalization, have become citizens.

Join us in celebrating Constitution Day Tuesday, September 18 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. in Center for Business Room 103. Judge Erickson will give a 45-minute presentation titled, “Mr. Madison We Have a Problem: This Constitution is Wonderful and All but We Can’t Agree on What it Means.”

Naturalization ceremony commemorates new citizens

Nearly 30 people from several nations around the world will become U.S. citizens during a campus naturalization ceremony set for Monday, Sept. 19, at 11 a.m. in the Comstock Memorial Union Ballroom. The ceremony also marks MSUM’s observance of Constitution Day.

All students, staff and faculty of MSUM are invited to attend the event, which is free and open to the public. President Edna Szymanski will open the program. U.S. District Judge John Tunheim will preside. Read the rest of this entry →
