Rebecca Gardner, Communication Studies, presented a paper at “Feminisms & Rhetorics,” a conference at Minnesota State University Mankato sponsored by the Coalition of Women Scholars in the History of Rhetoric and Composition. The title of her paper was “Resisting Authoritative Discourse: An American Indian Student Asserts the Complexity of her Writing Experience.”

Merrie Sue Holtan wins writing awards

Merrie Sue Holtan, Communication Studies, won three writing awards from North Dakota Professional Communicators. She earned first place for special features published in “Lake and Home” magazine, second for feature stories, published in the Forum, and second for speeches. The first place award will move on to the National Federation of Presswomen competition.

Communication Studies alum receives Fulbright Assistantship

Leigh Wilson-Mattson, a 2009 Communication Studies graduate, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship for the coming year. She departed for Malaysia Dec. 31, 2010 and will work for 10 months in the East Asian country.
