The Academic Assistant Program (MSUM’s tutoring program) developed by the Academic Support Center and implemented by Dan Weisse has just recently received International Tutor Certification by the College Reading and Learning Association. What a great honor for a job well done. Congrats to all the tutors providing service to our students, Catherine Kippley, and Dan Weisse!
Psi Chi, the International Honor Society for Psychology, inducted 14 new members into the MSUM chapter on May 6. The new members are: Danielle Bany, Megan Boeddeker, Amanda Heitkamp, Miranda Horst, Kelsey Ihringer, Katherine Johanson, Samantha Kallberg, Catherine Kippley, Emily Lyons, Courtney Messinger, Jesse Olson, Jessica Sand, Emily Steinle, and Madhuri Tiwari.
Allie Edmonds, Catherine Kippley and Jenelle Swenberger presented a paper titled “Crowd Sourcing, Crisis Mapping, and Sociology: Humanitarian Responses to Crisis in the World.” They co-presented with Dr. Karen Branden, Sociology and Criminal Justice, in a session titled “Connections and Community: Preparing students through Civic Engagement.” The three seniors discussed crowd sourcing as a way of doing humanitarian work.
