Student leaders at a MnSCU University are encouraged to apply for the Jared P. Stene Student Leaders Scholarship, named in memory of a student leader at Winona State University who passed away in November 2007. MSUM students majoring in graphic design have come away from the annual American Advertising Federation of North Dakota’s annual award show with Gold and Silver ADDY Awards plus the Larry Gauper Scholarship for student excellence. Professor Jane Bergland and seven nursing students recently returned from the ninth annual Nicaragua trip where they provided health care in rural northern Nicaragua. The team included MSUM nursing students, four pediatric residents from Hennipen County Medical Center, four emergency room residents from the University of Chicago, a dentist, faculty, and other ancillary staff. The city of Moorhead’s “Bags for Books” promotion will give students a $10 gift card to their school’s bookstore for every two hours that they bag sand.
