Michael Michlovic and George Holley, Anthropology and Earth Science, took four students to attend the 2013 Council for Minnesota Archaeology conference Feb. 8 and 9 at Inver Hills Community College. Holley presented a paper co-authored by Michlovic and Rinita Dalan on “Rexamining Plains Village Cultures in Minnesota.”
MSUM will offer 11 Learning Communities for the 2013-2014 academic year. Learning Communities offer first-year students a chance to connect with other students through sharing living space and classes. In addition students are connected with faculty, and a Dragon Mentor, an undergraduate student who lives on their residence hall floor and offers academic guidance.
MSUM will administer the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) to freshmen and seniors. The NSSE survey allows students to give feedback on: What they do on campus What they like and don’t like about MSUM Relationships with faculty, staff and other students What they’ve gained from attending MSUM
A recital featuring members of the MSUM Music Department is set for Thursday, Feb. 21, at 7:30 p.m. on the Gaede Stage in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts.
