Paralegal student wins national scholarship

Shantel Jagol, a senior in Paralegal, was selected as the Paralegal Community Service Achievement Scholarship Award winner by the American Association for Paralegal Education (AAfPE). The scholarship for $1,000 was awarded based upon substantial demonstrated participation in community service efforts while pursuing a Paralegal degree. This award was announced at the AAfPE National Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico in October.

Matthew Dakken’s undergraduate research recognized by Minnesota Economic Association

Matthew Dakken’s paper, “Booyah! An Analysis of Mad Money Stock Recommendations,” placed third in the Term Paper division of the Minnesota Economic Association’s 2017 Undergraduate Student Paper Contest. Dakken, who is completing a major in Economics and minor in Political Science, is the first Minnesota State University Moorhead student to earn this distinction from the Minnesota Economic Association. 

Anthropology and Earth Science students, faculty attend 75th Annual Plains Anthropological Conference

Twelve students and five faculty members from the Department of Anthropology and Earth Science attended the Plains Anthropological Conference in Bismarck, North Dakota from October 4-17, 2017. The following seven co-authored talks and posters were presented, encompassing research across archaeology, cultural anthropology, geoarchaeology, geology, and GIS: 

Bee Wisenden publishes paper in Clinical Anatomy journal

Bee Wisenden (Biosciences Department) published a peer-reviewed paper in the journal Clinical Anatomy entitled “Emotional response of undergraduates to cadaver dissection.” This research was based on the experiences of MSUM students enrolled in BIOL 323 Human Anatomy.
