Carol Hanson Sibley, Library, has been selected by the Children’s Literature Association to serve on a committee to establish a new children’s book award. The “Phoenix Picture Book Award” will honor a picture book published 20 years earlier that did not receive any major awards at the time of publication.
The Curriculum Materials Center, located on second floor of the Library, is currently featuring displays of new books and media recently added to the collection. This includes kits, games, DVDs, fiction, picture books, teacher resources, folklore, poetry, science, social studies, and other nonfiction topics. Terry Shoptaugh, MSUM archivist and librarian, has received the Military Writers Society of America (MWSA) Bronze Medal for 2010 for his book, They Were Ready: The 164th Infantry in the Pacific War.
