2010 NEW Leadership Development Institute

The Tri-College NEW (National Education for Women’s) Leadership Development Institute will be held June 5-9, 2010 at Minnesota State University Moorhead. The intensive five-day residential program is designed to provide leadership training, inspiration, and support for women who do not have extensive leadership experience. There is particular emphasis on recruiting women from groups that have typically been underrepresented voices in the political process. Tri-College Combo Concert Feb. 4

A Tri-College Combo Concert will be presented Thursday, February 4 at 7:30 p.m. in MSUM’s Hansen Auditorium. It’s free and open to the public. The Combos are directed by: Nick Fryer and Simon Rowe of MSUM and Matt Patnode and Jeremy Brekke of NDSU. Tri-College Combos combine the performing talents of students and faculty from MSUM, Concordia College and NDSU. The students audition across the three campuses and are placed in small groups which, under faculty guidance explore the skills, concepts and literature of jazz, commercial and contemporary music.

Kenyon Williams to perform with Moorhead High School Orchestra

Dr. Kenyon Williams, Associate Professor of Percussion, will perform the regional premiere of Emmanuel Sejourne’s “Concerto for Marimba and String Orchestra” Monday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. at Moorhead High School with the school’s Orchestra. Directed by MSUM Adjunct Professor of Violin Jon Larson, the MHS Orchestra is recognized as one of the largest and most accomplished ensembles in the Upper Midwest. Admission is free.

Art scholars exhibit works in Library

“The Faces of Excellence,” an exhibition of the 2010 Excellence in Art scholarship recipients, will be showing through Feb. 7 in the Livingston Lord Library. A colloquium and slide presentation of the students’ work will be Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. in the Center for Business 111. A reception will follow. The following students will be featured: Kellie Hames, Tate Milady, Elise Hylden, Kaylyn Gerenz, Jill Peterson and Chelsea Lee.
