The Chicago-based Kyle Asche Organ Trio comes to the Fargo-Moorhead community Thursday, Sept. 9, to teach at MSUM and perform in a popular jazz club in downtown Fargo. The Kyle Ashe Trio features guitarist Kyle Asche, organist Melvin Rhyne and drummer George Fludas. The Trio continuously performs at many famous venues in Chicago, including the Green Mill, Hothouse, Andy’s Jazz Club, Pops for Champagne, and Pete Miller’s.

MSUM’s first exhibition of the fall semester, “Abstraction 100”, is a centennial exhibition that marks 100 years since non-objective art was first recognized. It will be showing through Sept. 22 in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts Gallery, and feature the work of 31 artists, demonstrating the breadth of approaches possible within abstraction, and the wide variety of methods and materials that can be employed. The Straw Hat Players will be presenting The Music Man through Friday, July 30 in the Hansen Theatre at 7:30 p.m. The Music Man is a rated G musical about a traveling con-man salesman, Professor Harold Hill, who stops in River City, Iowa, to convince the town that they desperately need a boy’s marching band.
