Terrie Manno, professor of music/piano, will present a solo piano recital on Sunday, August 30, at 4 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Fox Recital Hall. Sharon Scapple’s pastel painting, “On the Alert,” was accepted in the Fine Arts category competition at the 2009 Minnesota State Fair.

Study Abroad Updates

Regretfully, MSUM has withdrawn its membership of the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) because of low enrollment numbers and the increasing cost of membership. However, our office will continue to assist students in participating in the program through an arrangement with NDSU, to be implemented shortly.

Faculty and Staff Invited to Council on Staff Affairs Fall Social

Visit with colleagues and friends over coffee and cookies, and preview samples of our NEW Council on Staff Affairs apparel at the fall Council on Staff Affairs Social, Thursday, Sept. 3 from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Science Lab atrium. We have 14 NEW items from which to choose, with extended sizes available in many of the items. Items will be available for pre-order September 3-18. Garment photos and information, size charts, and order forms will be available on the CSA website following the event. All proceeds from CSA sales go toward the Council on Staff Affairs Scholarship Fund.

Economy cited as reason enrollment is up at area community colleges

Enrollment at area community colleges is up this fall, with officials citing the economy as the main reason more students are headed to the classroom. Minnesota State Community and Technical College has 5,802 students taking classes on the four campuses or on the Internet, a 3.8 percent increase over the 5,590 students enrolled last year at this time, said Carrie Brimhall, dean of enrollment.
