MSUM students host Celebration of Nations Friday

Entertainment, food, culture, and fashions from around the world will be showcased in Celebration of Nations from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, April 9 in the Comstock Memorial Student Union Ballroom. Admission is $1 for adults. Children 12 and under are free. All food tickets are 50 cents. Eight dollars should provide a good meal. Students and community members representing a variety of countries will exhibit items from their homeland, cook their unique foods, and share their culture. Click headline for more information.

BFA exhibit opens April 12

An MSUM student art exhibit will be on display April 12-25 in the Roland Dille Center for the Arts gallery. The exhibit is in partial fulfillment of students’ bachelor of fine arts degrees. A reception for the artists will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, April 15 in the gallery. It’s free and open to the public. Terry Shoptaugh’s new book launched in Bismarck

Terry Shoptaugh, University Archivist, had his latest book officially “launched” April 5 at the North Dakota Capitol in Bismarck. They Were Ready focuses on the 164th Infantry Regiment during World War II and includes the stories of 70 World War II veterans of the unit with original art work by Doug Burtell of Bowman. Bernard Wagner, a Valley City veteran of WWII and Korea, and president of the 164th Infantry Veteran’s Association, introduced the book at the ceremony. Shoptaugh’s other books include You Have Been Kind Enough to Assist Me: Herman Stern and the Jewish Refugee Crisis (2008) and Moorhead, MN (Images of America) (2004).

Woodlands and High Plains Powwow at MSUM April 10

The 21st annual Woodlands and High Plains Powwow will be held at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse on the MSUM campus Saturday, April10. The annual celebration features traditional American Indian music, dance, and regalia.
