Minnesota State Moorhead Oceanarium publishes its first research paper on Ocean Literacy

The MSUM Oceanarium offers a summer program as part of College for Kids called Junior Aquarist Camp for Kids (JACK). Dr. Sara Schultz, Planetarium Director, has been invited to do an encore presentation of her March 2025 Nerd Nite talk: Fire in the Mountains: A Dragon’s Journey Through Chile at the Annual Best Of Nerd Nite. Dr. Heather Siek receives Nancy Parlin Grant to attend the National Black Child Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dr. Heather Siek, Assistant Professor of Psychology, received grant funding through the Nancy Parlin grant to be able to attend the National Black Child Development Conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Siek attended sessions related to the eight essential outcomes for black child development which included: safe communities, mental health, education, nutrition, digital safety, representation, safe environment/climate and narratives.

Mischief Managed: Community Engagement and Planetarium Host Hogwarts Scavenger Hunt

Nicole Larry and Sara Schultz and their student staff (Community Outreach and Planetarium) collaborated with Clued-In Events to host their ninth annual community scavenger hunt. This year’s theme was Harry Potter which partnered well the Planetarium programming “Skies Over Hogwarts”. Participants raced throughout campus to be the first to solve all 13 puzzles.
