Burgan started offering film acting classes about two years ago and last year brought on Wayne, a Minnesota State University Moorhead film studies graduate, to bolster the film production classes she offers.

Angela Harvala, an alumna of Minnesota State University Moorhead, won the Milken Educator Award and $25,000 to spend however she wishes. She received a B.S. in elementary education in 2006. The Milken Educator Awards was conceived by the Milken Family Foundation to attract, retain and motivate outstanding talent to the teaching profession.
