8th annual Dragon Fire Walk raises more than $50,000

The 2013 Dragon Fire Walk for Athletics is now officially in the books, and once again, the event was a success. As of Monday, $50,500 was raised from this year’s event, with all proceeds going to Dragon athletic scholarships. “Everyone was a winner in the 8th Annual Dragon Fire Walk,” MSUM athletic director Doug Peters said.

Art & Design alum featured at The Rourke Art Gallery

Gregory Montreuil (Art & Design, 1982) is featured in a solo exhibition at The Rourke Art Gallery now through June 23.  The exhibition features more than 40 black-and-white abstractions executed in oil. Montreuil, known for his published criticism and arts journalism, has developed a following in New York City among writers as well as artists.

Economics Department alumni, faculty and students gather for alumni reunion

Economics faculty (Drs. Dobis, Flores, Greenley, Hansen, and Stutes) welcomed nearly 30 department alumni to an Alumni Reunion at Kip’s in St. Louis Park, Minn., April 19. Economics Department visits Cargill

Economics Department 2010 alumnus, Jena Thompson, hosted ten MSUM Economics students (Cody Brandt, Kofi Boadu, Victoria Duncan, Jed Eix, Rachel Hettich, Jasmin Lam, Wen Kai Ling, Ilerioluwa Oyebanjo, Diamond Stokes, and You Wang) and four faculty members (Drs. Dobis, Greenley, Hansen, and Stutes) at the Cargill Office Center on April 19 in Wayzata, Minn.

Kevin Zepper presented at Pecha Kucha event

Kevin Zepper, MFA in the English Department, presented at the 17th Pecha Kucha (pronounced Pa-cha ku-cha) event April 18 in Bemidji. Zepper’s presentation followed the strict rules of Pecha Kucha: a 6:40 time limit, which is 20 seconds of “script” along with images projected every 20 seconds.
