Eight student members of the Chemistry & Biochemistry Club presented their research and community involvement work at the 247th National Meeting and Exposition of the American Chemical Society in Dallas, Texas. In addition to presenting posters, the students participated in a number of career preparation and networking workshops presented by the ACS, and got to meet ACS mascot “Professor Molenium.”
Mike Miller, Mathematics, and Elementary Education majors Anna Adrover and Trista Bentler presented at the North Dakota Council of Teachers of Mathematics conference in Fargo on Saturday, March 22. They presented various alternative strategies to the standard subtraction algorithm to an audience of K-12 teachers.
Dr. Chang-Seong Hong, Philosophy, had his book review published in a Korean-language journal “The Buddhist Review” in March 2014. His article is on Owen Flanagan’s “The Bodhisattva’s Brain: Buddhism Naturalized” (The MIT Press, 2011). www.budreview.com/news
Professor Kevin Zepper, English, will be at Southwest Minnesota State University Visiting Writers Series on Monday, March 24 for a poetry reading. Kevin Zepper, author of “Sugartown” and three other chapbooks, will read from Noon – 1 p.m. at the Marshall-Lyon County Library and from 7-8 p.m. at SMSU, Charter Hall 201. Zepper teaches at Minnesota State University Moorhead.
Registration for 2014 fall classes runs from March 10-14 and March 24-28. During this time, currently enrolled or returning students may register for classes.
