Security and Wireless Updates

Security Updates:
IT will be implementing several security enhancements on all Windows devices beginning the morning of July 1, 2026 as part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen account security and protect institutional data.
Key updates include:
- Screen Lock (30 minutes): Devices will automatically lock after 30 minutes of inactivity (will not affect presentations, Teams/Zoom meetings, or video playback)
- Login Message: A brief acceptable use and data security reminder will appear after system restart/login
- Secure Login: Windows users will be required to press Ctrl + Alt + Del before signing in
These changes are designed to improve security while minimizing impact to daily work. If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the IT Help Desk.
Wireless Update:
Please be aware that intermittent wireless outages may occur over the next 2–3 weeks due to vendor work on our wireless infrastructure. This work is focused on improving our network, which will enhance connectivity across campus. Our IT team will strive to keep any interruptions brief and communicate updates as quickly as possible. We understand this may cause inconvenience and appreciate your patience throughout this process.
To help reduce disruption and inconvenience, please use hardwired connections whenever possible. This work is to configure the remaining additional access points and may impact areas campus-wide, including Residence Halls and other buildings. While IT will provide advanced warning to teams or buildings whenever possible, some outages may occur without prior notice due to the scope of the improvements.
If you notice an extended downtime, please reach out to the IT Help Desk so the issue can be quickly addressed.
